    Default Little restaurant site

I have been supervising our printing company at the moment so not had much time to design websites in xara but good to get back into it.

This is a site for an Indian restaurant in a small village in Yorkshire. It's an interesting restaurant as the building it's in dates from the early 17th century. The site brief was to have a classy and easy to use site, and something which looks good at all monitor sizes. Went for a full width slideshow for this (of course not full width but achives that on screen sizes up to I500px and that covers most screen sizes). Tried to keep the size of the site in terms of kbs small so that it loads quickly. The new site has made a big difference to the restaurant's appeal and it has shot up in google search to number one in it's keyword, it was languising in 8th or 9th before. The owners are also updating the decor so the site and the interior will tie-in.

Fabulous design sketch. It is so clean and colorful and the food looks scrumptious. Do they FedEx to New Mexico?

What did you use for the slide show on the home page?

Thank you Gary. If you had tried their food you would be willing the FedEx to New Mexico, really fresh and perfectly spiced (real fresh spices and not just chilli powder like most other places) I know a couple of TV chefs who have eaten there and they loved the food. I used http://www.hislider.com/ for the slideshow.

    Really nice design.

Slideshow changes a bit too quickly for me and the loading bar is distracting.

    Great job though.

Great looking site, Skech. Attractive design and photography. Love the 'gold-green' color you used for some of the text and graphics.

How are you getting the slide show into Xara? Placeholder and copy and paste text from the HTML document?

skech, for me this is an excellent design, I'm starting a business adventure in the website design industry, my website is www.salesjoint.org.

The issue i have with xara is that the websites I've made, they don't adjust to the screen of mobile devices , like this one you just designed.
If you can help me with this. please send me a quote of the job , and lets do business
    best regards,

Xara cannot make sites which adgust to screen size, all you can do is create clean, unfussy sites. People really do not mind zooming in and out of a site and if you read recent posts on various web forums you will see that people are getting tired of responsive sites to a certain extent. This is due partly to not only larger and larger screen sizes on mobile devices (typical size for a smartphone is now 5inches and even apple are working on a 12inch ipad as are samsung) but just look at the resolutions of these devices, for instance the resolution of a samsung galaxy s4 is 1920px x 1080px, thats larger than the typical laptop screen.

You can of course always make two separate sites, one for larger screens and another for phones, you would then put in a re-direct script which would detect the screen resolution and direct the user to the mobile site. The problem is as I explained that the resolutions of the new smartphones are higher than most laptops and the script would not re-direct as it is looking for a screen resolution of <700px (or whatever you decide to set). Like I said a single well designed, well thought out site is all you need. If you would still like to work together then PM me.
