    Default Inserting Google Analytics code

    Hi,
    So, another idiot (probably) question:
I'm trying to figure out Google Analytics. The very helpful instructions say insert the code into the <head> section.
My Web Designer User Manual says:

    Adding code to page head
Some code needs to be inserted into the head (<head> tag) section of the exported
HTML code, instead of to the body (<body> tag) section as it is by default.
To do this, click the HTML code (head) button in the Placeholder, Website or Page tab
of the Web Properties dialog and type in or paste your code.

That's great... Easy to understand, but...
I can't find the HTML (head) button anywhere on any of the Web Properties dialogue tabs.

Where do I find it? Or, where exactly do I put the Google Analytics code?

    Many thanks,
    Sara

If you have the entry level version of Web Designer MX then there is no head section button.
To get around this, the older method is to name the placeholder object <head>

    Thanks for your reply.
So, if I make a placeholder object and name it <head>
Where do I then put the HTML code?
I looked in the Web Properties dialogue, Placeholder Tab. There was only the button marked HTML code body.
And, does it make a difference where or what the placeholder object is that I name as <head>?

Sorry, if these seem like simple questions.

in the placeholder window that pops up when you click the placeholder > html code body button

once you name it <head> it acts as if the placeholder button said HTML code HEAD

not at all - once you have an object as a placeholder, that object is replaced by your code.

    good luck

Any object can be used as a placeholder but a simple rectangle is all that is necessary.
Yes, use the HTML code (body) for the code - provided you name the placeholder as show above, the code with be correctly placed in the <head> section on export (or preview).

Edit: Never mind, Frank posted while I was typing..
