    Default Help with Tablet Compatibility

    Hello,

I am seeing some odd behavior when I try to use some of my sites on a tablet - Apple, Andriod or MS Surface.

If I go to this site: http://www.gludown.com/index.htm Everything including videos work just fine. It was built from scratch using Designer Pro X 7

If I go to this site - http://watchmymvp.com/ The site functions but none of the videos work. It was originally built with an earlier version of Xara and updated over the years. The latest version published was published via Designer Pro X 7

So, I have upgraded to version 8 but will it help the site that does not work? Why does one site work and another not when the same software published both?

It would help a lot if some could test the video playback on the two sites for me and report if they worked or not. I do not own a tablet or a smart phone.

Thanks for your help. I am kind of confused here.

Flash is the issue. Or lack of support for Flash to be specific. Most mobile devices, thanks to Apple, do not support Flash.

There are some work arounds for this. Check back. Someone should have some suggestions.

In your document for watchmymvp.com you just need to delete the video placeholder and re-import the video so that it inserts the correct video player code and then re-publish the site.

Thanks for checking. So I should install pro v9 (to get the latest), open the website and re-insert all of the video files? This will change the player to a more HTLM 5 friendly situation? Thank you.

Designer Pro X9 is the latest version out.

You can delete the placeholder in version 7, so long as you have the latest patch update installed for it, or any version newer and then drag the video back in.

O.K. I have updated the index page and one other page with new videos:

    http://watchmymvp.com/index.htm

    http://watchmymvp.com/football-video.htm

For a reference, here is a page that I did not update - http://watchmymvp.com/hockey-video.htm

I would really appreciate your help if you could check these and also mention what device you are using.

    Thanks a lot!

I haven't tested it (because I don't have a device to hand to test it on) but looking at the HTML source I can tell it's correct on the first 2 links.

As for the hockey-video page, did you delete both of the placeholders on the page and then import the MP4 file again?

I left the hockey page as before to give a reference. If the first two work I will update the entire site.

Oh I see, then I'd say go ahead and update the rest of the videos in the same way.
