    xdp6 Letterhead Template

    Hi All,
I'm trying to create a new letterhead in Pro X9 for the business and want to be able to open it in Word as a template. I couldn't seem to be able to save it as a .doc file directly, so I exported it as a .pdf, then converted it to a .doc using a conversion program. However, it doesn't seem to work the way I want it to. Any comments from others who have done this and the process you used?

    DPX9 saves as .docx
But you need Word 2007 or greater to open MS's newer format.

    Works fine here.

Thanks Sledger for your quick reply. Unfortunately, I didn't buy the new Word, but opted for Open Office instead, and it won't open the .docx file uncorrupted (has the graphics but no text). Open Office uses the .odt extension, but that save option isn't available. I still have the old .doc Word (97 believe it or not) but that's not working right either. Any other suggestions?

Update your Open Office to Libre Office (free)

Then why not make your life easy and use DPX9 instead of Word?

    here's an idea
i haven't tried it so it might be a failure before you start
    but anyway

create your letterhead template in xdp9
    export as docx
    open in libreoffice
    save as word 2007 template
    open in word

    if that doesnt work...

    (i'll tell you monday, tgif ;-) )

Thanks again, Sledger, Libre Office opened the .docx corrupted, but opened the .pdf I converted to .doc just the way I designed it in Xara. I didn't know about Libre Office...kudos for the heads up!

Also good advice, but while I use Xara for almost everything, my wife does the business correspondence and absolutely refuses to learn Designer Pro. I think I have it covered now though. Thank you.
