I am always amazed at the creative ways Xara users take a basic tool and find ways to push it to the limits. Good work (again) Ron.

    Excellent work as always Ron!

<pedantry> My only quibble is that a white square should be in the first row right and Queens should start opposite Queens [on their matching colour i.e. white on white], Kings opposite Kings </pedantry>

Ron that is super idea and as you created too. Yes as John mentions the a1 square should be black officially and the black queen and king opposite on d8 and e8, but that just directs the viewer to direction that this is already abstract and the dimension of art

Anyway probably the Extrude tool should absolutely fit to illustrate chess positions, because no need to turn the figures when they are ready, which can be challenging at lego figures. Maybe the knight stays as tricky but the other ones are symmetrical. If I had a chess site sure would illustrate like you showed.

These examples hopefully help to build the community too, more people has sure more ideas. For example for me some breakthrough was in inspiration, when I put an innocent question on TG how to extrude a sphere, noone knew but Steve showed an example that do not give up it is possible to extrude an as if with playing the lights And from that point, knowing that in drawings theoretically with basic shapes like a circle, a triangle and a rectangle, everything should be able to done..

Definitely agree that the extrude tool deserves more attention, more things can be done with it than not and let's focus on that side.
