Yes, XaReg does nothing different than manual editing except make it safer for novice users.
The issue with the Strike Through and Columns icon disappearing when the SuperWideInfoBar option is changed is not a registry issue, it's a core application issue and is why these registry tweaks are not officially supported.
The changes DPX9 has introduced which are Registry editable will be applied in the XaReg2.4 update coming soon.
Losing the strikethough and column icons will be fixed in the next patch.
