The first one is the best, in my opinion.
Fitting in the 'R' doesn't work for me. There's too much there.

My initials are RKD, but that didn't work as a logo either. That's why I went with RD.

One clean line of the P going into the S works for me.

The 3D and the background work beautifully, for me.
You've done a fantastic job there.

Paul, by making the initial of your surname much smaller much, much than your first name you are giving it less importance. Is that intentional or desirable?

What about something simple and elegant instead

Here's my suggestion for your PRS logo: A simple, memorable two colour circular design, using the extrude tool (and then running it through a good bitmap trace program to re-vectorize it).
Off Topic: @ Frank - only just noticed your link - very nice site indeed.

I'm not as skilled or knowledgeable about design as the rest, but I thought I'd stir the
pot with something of a plastic nature. I would like to hear criticism though for my
own benefit. Hope this helps get the juices flowing.

Hi Paul, as other people have been saying “keep it simple”. Good design at it’s very best is kept simple this can make it easily recognisable among competitors logos, BP for one! I really liked the intertwining letters but as you might think, for some reason they do not look right, why? I hear you ask. The answer is also quite simple. The main body of the letter S is broken in ½ by the down stroke of the letter P this makes the over lapping shapes confusing and difficult to read. Maintaining the central stoke of the letter S as you have on section six on the nine logo paste up presents us with the problem of bringing the letter S to the forefront which make the logo read as SP. I have found that working in black and white with the shapes make the initial design work so much easier.
Hope this is of help to you.
    Best regards
    Tabian

Sorry, should have read all the comments, including the one about the RKD.

    Here's another idea...

    That is very good, Ron.
But, it's Paul who is looking for a logo, not me.
I did my logo many moons ago.
My initials are RKD, but, it was not possible (for me at least) to make a logo from all 3 letters.
So, I decided to design one from just RD.
So, I came up with what I have shown in the attached image.

It's exactly the reason why I didn't design anything for Paul with PRS.
I went with PS because personally I thought that would look better. Only my opinion, but an opinion, all the same.

You need to come up with ideas for Paul. Not me!
