I just looked at the Twitter widgets in the Page and Layer Gallery and you are correct. Twitter has withdrawn their support.
I went to the Twitter site to see if you can get a widget there. No. I guess they do not want you to follow them anymore.

I saw this today and headed over to my bookmarked page for the widgets and guess what? it re-directs to the logos page, there is no mention of the widgets at all on the site, some people are saying that they will rebrand the pages like the rest of the site but it seems unlikely that they have not done so already. Does anyone have the code as apparently the people with the widgets already embedded in their sites will still get the service so I assume that all you need is the full code and just change the text colour, number of tweets etc, if you do it would be nice if you posted it up here.
