Default message: import at a lower resolution to reduce file size

    see attached

the default setting is 1920 - far too low for me

ok it can be supressed on a session basis, but the number of clicks to acheive anything keeps creeping up and I'd rather not see it at all - AFAIK there is no way to suppress it permanently, but the default setting can be increased in the registry

I have my setting at 8000

the registry key is 'ImportSize' in Options > Filters [ verified in designer pro X]

changing registry settings is only for those who know what they are doing and who backup first

apologies if this is already mentioned anywhere else

That was probably conceived to deal with the number of people who were getting out of memory error messages and did not understand that even though their image with a resolution of 800dpi was only going to publish at 96dpi.

I object to this because if you are creating work for commercial printing, you need a higher resolution. I can agree with this warning if you are working on a website, but the program should distinguish between one and the other and only show the warning if the user has specified the document to be a website.

oh and if you want to get rid of another patronising piece of 'we've-dumbed-it-down-speak', the registry key is OptimiseJpegFromPng - change value to 0

If you do website design as well as print design that one is worth keeping, I just wish it only came up for Website documents (if you have "Document is intended to be a website" checked)

Or, Francis, simply create and place the proper images to begin with, properly sized. Which is what I do. At that point these are just nag screens.

    Take care, Mike
