if, like me, you live with someone who is not 'techie' a screensaver serves one useful purpose [and quite possibly an original one as opposed to just power down the monitor] which is to remind that user:

a] that the machine is still powered
b] that it should be shut down properly before it is switched off at the main

but it does not have to be 'pretty' agreed

Actually I have had some very good ideas occur whilst gazing at screensavers as well as open fires, sunsets, horizons, and simply out of the window - maybe that's just me...

    Xara ScreenMaker 3D

Why not use this to make your own personalised screensaver?

I see that Beretgascon has reverted back to his old alter ego. There is a big difference between 'Big Frank' and Beret, as visualized by his small and friendly avatar. It will need some getting used to...

    I second that motion!

I was going to say that we seem to have gone off-topic but Big Frank didn't quite make it clear that he had done this.
I certainly would not have known without reading Boy's post. I just kept wondering who Big Frank is with 2868 post?!

So, the question is, "What is beretgascon trying to hide?"
He might as well come out and tell us because someone is bound to know, anyway!!!

    Hi guys,

My two accounts are in the process of being married off. The animated penguin will return, as will references to my Béret, but for the time being I can't change those things. Barbara is a busy lady and anyway I'm in the throes of building a false wall this weekend so don't expect much from me soon!

    A bientôt

I love http://www.webshots.com/pro/ it provides both wallpaper and screen saver. There is free version that works fine. I have been using it for years - I know some of the pictures I have on it have been copied from at least 3 generations of computers.

This thread seems to have changed the topic from windows logon screen to screen-savers.
Since we are on the subject of screen-savers I have my own thoughts about those. Personally I use one that I made with Xtreme and X3D. It is one of a kind and I have liked it for a very long time.
