Wink Re: Farewell But Not Goodbye

    Hi Gary W.

I tend not to be here as frequently as I'd used to be
But just viewed this thread, which saddened me a bit.
To hear you're in a retirement-home and your stereograms have gotten your eyes staying crossed in the end

The xone is a great reference pool for tips and tricks to be used in our beloved X(ara, treme, designer(pro)).
I would like to thank you for all your time and effort you have put in to it.
And wish your beloved ones strength to endure your free time and being around more often.
Glad you stay on as a mod and Gare will sure do its best to be a worthy successor

    Hans

    Gary,

Relax and enjoy your newly fround free time while you can ... my guess is it will be filled with some other new project before you know it. Thanks for all your graphics support over these many years.

    Hi Gary,
I can´t help but to feel a little sad with the news. You've been here since i can remember and you´re an integral part of what i "know" as Xara. I´ve been enjoying Xara Xone and your contributions here at Talkgraphics since i´ve joined a bunch of years ago. And i´m sure i will miss it. I´m glad to know that you will stay around us as a moderator. Enjoy your new free time and thank you for all your effort and dedication.

Hello Gary. You & I go back at least 20 years to the i-us days. I'd been creating vector drawings on the BBC computer with Artworks & then on a PC with Xara. But this was in isolation until I finally could afford to buy a modem and went on-line and suddenly found that there were many Xara users in the world freely willing to share their expertises. Non more so than yourself on i-us. Your precise, simple to follow step by step tutorials through the Xara Xone increased my vector drawing skills in leaps and bounds.

You have a skill to convey complicated procedures in easy to follow step by step processes and when it's in danger of getting too complicated/bogged-down you have a fantastic knack of inserting humour which lightens up your tutorials.

So I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for having a great input into my vector drawing abilities. Me and I'm sure many others.

I wish You & Mary a long & happy retirement.

Hey Eric, thanks. We have known one another for a long time. And to the many other members who have taken the time to comment, you make be believe that I was able to contribute something of substance over the time I have been hosting the Xara Xone. Thanks one and all and have a great holiday.

Gary, thanks so much for all the inspiration, tuts, and just plain hard work over the years. You've made life easier and more enjoyable for new and old graphics users alike. You've made a difference and left your mark.
I'm looking forward to seeing all those new stereograms you will be creating in future.

    Cheers,
    Graham.
