large poster size problems

Hi, I have to make a poster at 96" x34" but xara will not accept that, what to do

I cannot remember which Xara application you use (and it's not in your profile).

Hmm, that's a size I can make in XDP7 and could in XDP6, but it is close to what the max page size is. Max I can go is 100 inches either/both directions. However, one will always want to go larger at some point--like the 30' banner I needed to make in CD for a trade show booth once.

Make is a divisible size, which is what I use to do in CD for trade show banners. Vector stuff absolutely doesn't matter if it is scaled down. Make your bitmaps, if used, higher DPI than needed. I had application screen shots on some of mine. No chance for taking them at higher DPI, but I printed them to photo paper and scanned them at a high resolution and they came out wonderful. Obviously photographs and negatives I could scan straight away.

thanks, the outer margin was adding to it and that is why it did not allow for it.
