    xdp6 My very first car photo alteration

    As the title states, this was my very first car photo alteration, so I know it's not very good, but then again I didn't really think it would be. I've been cleaning out my laptop and came across this and thought I'd share this and the other works like this I've done - in order.

    Okay, so here what happened - I friends from the race track would are obviously into car, and a wife of one of my competitors was looking to get her daughter a Beetle for her 16th birthday. I was asked to make a simple design for the car so it would not be stock. I didn't want to make this poor car into a "Fast & Furious" style car. I wanted to keep it simple so this is what I came up with.

    Photo:
    * Gran Turismo 4 (PS2) - Photo Mode
    * Photographed by (I use that term loosely) Madalynne Crowe (me)

    Alterations:
    * Lowered suspension - done within game (no photo alteration needed)
    * Increase rim size from 14" to ??"
    * HID bulbs for the Head Lamp and Fog Lamps
    * Smoked the headlight covers
    * Amber colored bulbs for turn signals to give mild color in the lenses
    * Carbon fiber hood (which didn't come out correctly, but the idea was conveyed)
    * A simple 2-part color graphic for the side of car
    * A rubber covering for the "side skirting" to add to the Modern-Retro look of the Beetle.

    This was a learn experience for me and I did learn a lot from this like the original photo is okay on it's own, but it doesn't really work well with my purpose. I tried another photo digital alteration shortly after this project with a lot more work done to the car. I'll post that too.

    As always any and all comments are welcome.

    You're too modest about the photo. It is rather good. Trying to get a clean surface in that busy room would be a nightmare.

    And the alterations are gravy.

    Thanks Gary, but I think the photo source is the weak point. I means it's from a video game with pixels and grainy images to save on memory and CPU power for the console. I hadn't really given it much thought until recently. I know- Shame On Me. = ( I have a photo alteration I'm really proud of - in fact, it got me a temp job with "59 South Productions" doing artwork for an upcoming CD release for "POPASON" I'll post the works here in due time.

    Nice work Mads, but you're right, the source image is too pixellated.

    Those fog lights look like they have little teddy bears in them. Truly a girl's car
    If someone tried to make me dig my own grave I would say No.
