    Default Publish password problem

I had to change my password to upload a web site.

I changed it in the web properties, clicked "apply" and then "OK". When I go back to web properties it shows the correct password - at least the correct number of dots where the password is - that number of dots is different than the old password.

However, when I go to export the site, the box that comes up still has the old password and if I try to publish the site it come up with an error message that the password is not correct. There is no other way I know to change a password. I have shut down and re-booted but still the same problem.

Does not make sense to me but any suggestions on how to fix the problem? - jb

When you changed the password did you click on the "save these details ..." and "Save in profile"? And the apply button [easy to forget I know from experience!]

John, those options are not available in XX5 - I opened the site in WD6 and changed the password there, doing as you show above, but when I go to publish it still has the old password. - jb

Edit - I tried taking the password out in web properties - it says if you do so you will have to enter it each time to publish - but it still shows the old password and there is no way to change it. - jb

I do apologise Jeb, didn't know you were using XX5. And haven't got XX5 on my new PC to check. If you're uploading from WD6 the options should be there

This is weird, I am having the same problem, it does not allow me to publish the site saying incorrect password, but the same details work with filezilla, this has just started happening today.

I don't know why but when I go to publish in XX5 it still comes up with the wrong password but if I continue it asks me to enter a password and then connects and uploads OK. Strange that several of us have the same problem for the first time today. - jb
