Question Xara Designer 6 - The Look?!

    Hi Xperts.

I heard much about the name change from Xtreme to Designer and it seems that look has also changed from the usual light grey to a much darker colour.

Is there a way of changing the look from a 'dark grey' to anything else?
I am talking about the interface.

Also, some of the drawing tools, the rectangle, the circle and the quickshape have been grouped together - is there any way to separate these, if preferred?

Rik you can build you own toolbars.
I´ve recreated the Xara Xtreme 5 toolbar without the flyouts and works great!

Regarding the dark layout, there´s a way to go back to the previous look but it´s not recommended by Xara since it will not be probably supported in future versions.

I would recommend working with the dark gray interface. I really like it. And it is a lot easier on the eyes. It is just different and we don't always like change. But I would give it a chance before you go back to the old skin.

that, I think Gary, is going to depend on your monitor [and your eyes]

and your lighting conditions where you work....

oh, and even with the flyouts, it takes up more space toolbar wise [geared for bigger monitors?]

but I take your point generally - however we should have choice ideally

Thanks John for quick reply. I have just installed the trial and noticed that some of the gallery stuff isn't available in download trial..and haven't had a chance to really delve into the program.

    Hi Miguel, Amoore and Gary.

Thanks for the quick response guys.

Miguel: I just managed to create a toolbar with everything I want. Great!

    Amoore: Alt+Ctrl+Shift+S definitely works.

Gary: Yes, we do have to try and get used to things when things change. But, it's always about the option to' not to' that is important. Give the customer the choice and you will have happier customers.
Now, having said all that, I changed the look but then wanted the new look back again!!!

    Cheers guys.
    Rik.
