    Hi David,

I'm not sure what the purpose of the embedded image serves, it doesn't look like a chain link and could be considered to be spam.

What 3D software are you using to try and create a chain link?

Not spam, just an illustration of what I'm looking for. I'm a Xara Xtreme Pro user but with limited experience. That's why I'm asking for help.

    thanks

The 3D forum is dedicated to users of programs like Cinema 4D, Truespace, Blender, Maya, Carrara, Wings3D, etc.

I will move your thread to the Xara Xtreme forum.

The image you provided doesn't look anything like a chain to me.

It does look very much like a blend created using an ellipse or a portion of an ellipse.

    David,
That's the strangest chain link I have ever seen, it's just the logo for the site

Obviously something has gone awry with David's link. But if you right click the link and copy and paste it into the address bar of your browser you will get the correct image.

@ David: You can get a close result using Xtreme's 3D extrude tool. I used the eyedropper from the colour editor to sample the colours from your photo and apply them to the extrusion and the lights.

David, if you redraw on your image in Xtreme, just shapes and color them then group them, you can create a great golden chain brush of this group.

Wow Frances, that looks great well done.

BP, you always amaze me how quickly you can come up with these ideas. That brush looks great and is very useful.

    Bravo to you both.
