Another user that prefers the light skin. Thank goodness for the keyboard shortcut to change the skin back to light gray. I couldn't see things very well on the dark color skin. I was thinking I had wasted my money upgrading from XWD5 until I went searching for a way to change it back!
After a few weeks of dark grey, I've also reluctantly decided to change to the grey skin. I really do like the dark skin, as I think it creates more of a focus on the page, but...
My (personal) reasons for changing, based on using it on a netbook, are:
- difficult to see the scroll bars
- harder to find the true black swatch in the colour bar
- harder to see the enabled/disabled states of lock aspect ratio and sketch mode
- can lower my netbook screen brightness to save power but still see enough for sketching.
For me, the ideal solution would be an option to swap between the two (without loosing toolbar changes) or better still, have several shades of darkness to choose from.
Developers of the XaReg actually have to take money for their product...
Because of Xara's developers are not going to support their users to make Xara more flexible in custom settings...
You ought to be ashamed!
Do you really proud for the only one dark skin??
Really do?

The most comprehensive reason for the change given in Xara's blurb that I have been able to find is
http://www.xara.com/eu/products/designer/whatsnew/Totally re-designed application appearance
There's an all-new look to Designer, including modern skin and icons.
I've not seen any rational reason for changing the UI and I am not convinced it adds anything to the product.
I'm in love with DP6, with its good old dependable grey (Windows) UI
If someone tried to make me dig my own grave I would say No.
They're going to kill me anyway and I'd love to die the way I lived:
Avoiding Manual Labour.
I have to say, I'm using Windowblinds to skin my Windows UI, and the particular skin (StealthOS) I'm using changes the default grey window background to a much lighter shade, and with the original grey UI for XX, I had a really hard time finding the White swatch on the end of the color bar. Now with the dark gray UI of XDP6 (which overrides my StealthOS window skin), I have no problems. Technically, there's a similar issue seeing one of the Grey swatches, but since it's in the middle of the other grey shades, I don't have a problem finding it.
