    Default Grunge

I have looked for information on how to add a grunge look or style to some of my designs but so far no luck. I hope everyone understands what I mean by "grunge" but if not let me know and I will find a sample and post it.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Welcome to TalkGraphics Duane

If you can post an example it would be better. One man's grunge is another man's something or other...

Well perhaps it might, though to me 'Grunge' is basically scruffy, rough, dirt, filth and covered with unclean things - decay and ruination .

Why not start by going to say Da Font and looking at some Grunge fonts and then work from there?

    Thanks for the welcome guys.

I am not actually looking for a font. I am looking for instruction on a style...generally a splattered dirty effect I can add to some of my designs. I have played with various filters, etc but just not getting it. I have posted a sample of what I am talking about. This is from istockphoto...I do not want to purchase other's work...much rather create my own.

I think the drawback to distressing objects with bitmap fills is that they tend to be too uniform, and thereby, not realistic.

So I think a better effect is created by starting with an irregular shape and distressing it with various plugin filters.

Here I started with an irregularly shaped Fractal Cloud fill, and "plugged it" until I got a look that I was happy with.
