Hi Soquili,

I want to make the single color [black] into any rainbow color using XXP4's Color palates.
The way I do it is to right click on the color that I want in the color line and then 'set contone dark color' although there are other ways this one seems to be the simplest for me.
You can sort of do it with a lot of work, but not really. Since the image is a png and a transparency and a converted file, that will give you lots of trouble. Really all you can do is set the dark contone to whatever color.
If you really want a rainbow then you will need to make several copies or a blend and set each to a different dark contone color. Then using the transparency linear fill tool change each colored image appropately, then arrange centrally. You will need to make a dark rectangle to place your image on or it will export really yucky. At least that's what happened to me.
I did this to see if this is what you are trying to do.
This is pretty poor I know, but I don't know if it's a problem with the image or my choice of colors or both.
Well I just changed some of the colors and that didn't help much, so it's mostly the image. Maybe someone else will have a better idea.
Edit: Maybe I'm all wet and all you want to do is change the image color in which case right click on the color lline and change dark contone, and forget the rest of this post.

Never give up. You will never fail, but you may find a lot of ways that don't work.
I gave it a go Larry..... using a bitmap copy of the transparencies helps prevent the colors going squiff...

I cloned the image three times to increase the tonal range then created a new True Color + Alpha bitmap and adjusted the Dark Contone Color in the Color Editor.

Create a rectangle with a fill that you want, then use the bitmap for its transparency, then clone until the colors are vivid enough for you.
Doing it in scratch in X4 (X5 too?) reveals a real annoyance with Xtreme. When the transparency is applied to the rectangle, it won't keep its original aspect ratio. Maybe there's something I'm overlooking?
that's the way David
I did not get the distortion when applying the bitmap as transparency in xtreme 5 [or xtreme 2] - did have to set it to single non-repeating tile, but thats normal?
think it may be a setting of yours, or maybe just a ver 4 thing..... [don't have that to hand]

HI Soquili, GMs9810, etc..
GMs9810's answer worked for me. Thanks to all.
I have collected a bundle of free Photoshop brushes and I'm converting them from .ABR to .PNG files for my personal use in Xtreme. If anyone wishes to use them I will post them in a new thread. Let me know!
You can also change the light and dark contones using the colour editor.
