Where to Start?

I bought Xara Xtreme and then upgraded to 4 Pro and now I see they are on 5 and I still haven't gone any farther then installing it. This time I actually installed the plug-ins I purchased. So now that I have some free downtime I would like some wise counsel on where would be the best place to start. Let me state that I learn best by doing tutorials. I need to actually do it to understand it. The problem with most instructors who write tutorials is that they assume you know and at this point I don't know anything. Thanks for all you help and guidance.
