Question How to duplicate this Word art

I have a client that created their logo using Word art. I am having a dickens of a time working with it, so would like to recreate it using Xtreme (3 or 4). The part I'm having trouble with is the letters that conform to the top oval.

Attached is the logo which needs to be transparent outside the oval. Thanks for any help offered!

    Use Mould tool.

That's beautiful, but how did you do it? I assume, convert the text to an editable shape, then with the mould tool, I was only able to get it to an oval shape. How do I get the bottom flat and the sides out?

Cursor, would you consider sending me your .xar file? Thanks, guys!

Apply a Default Envelope (the first rectangle icon on the Infobar).

Then edit the top control points.

I attached the wrong file to my post above. I meant to attach the .xar file. I'll edit that post & attach the RIGHT file. Again, you'll want to use the Mould Tool. There's a brief tutorial on it here (look in the video links for "Using Moulds").

In Xara Xtreme help, you'll find info on the technique by searching for "enveloping".

That's not necessary. Simply apply the default envelope/mould.

By the way, it appears that once the text has been bound by an envelope/mould it can no longer be edited (and the font cannot be changed). Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You are correct in that the text cannot be edited, but you can change the font, colour, add a bevel or contour and then still change the font! Extrusions can be applied too, and the font can be changed.

I can't seem to do that, Bob. Once I apply a mould to text, I cannot even select the text (to the text info bar, to change the font). In the lower left corner, on the status line, it reads, "1 mould on layer 1". Trying the Ctrl key during selection to access the text-inside doesn't work. Hmmm ...

In this particular case, I'm using Xara Xtreme 4.

Hi Curtis, it works for me in XXP 4 as well. I do not select the text tool, but select the mould with the Selector Tool (V) and then double-click on a font in the font gallery.
    Saludos,
    Bob.
