Wow, that is pretty plain compared to the designs showcased in this thread! I am sure the people here can do a LOT better.

If Xara wants to control the use of the copywrited name, they can contact CafePress and request the removal of the products not authorized by them. CafePress makes it VERY clear that copywrited material is not to be used except by the holder of the copywrite.

Looking at the merchandise offered, I would be very surprised if they are authorized products.

It looks like a lot of people think that the word "Xara" is copyrighted. But I don't think it is at all. Here are some non-Xara Ltd. entities:

www.xarasoccer.com
www.xara.20m.com
www.xarapalace.com.mt

It is easy to forget, I imagine, in a place like this that Zara or Xara is also a girl's name, which is where, I believe, the makers of Xtreme got the name from (but correct me if I am wrong).

I'm not a lawyer, but it looks to me that the people on that Cafepress website are not trying to pass the design off as the Xara that we know, so there is no copyright issue, at least in my opinion, expecially since you cannot copyright a forename.

But it's certainly the best name for a vector art program I've ever seen

in the early 80's I choose the nickname ankhor.
I thought, pretty original, I must be the only one using it
for I imagined it myself, there was no internet yet ofcourse.
there is a river called ankhor in russia, there is a city called
ankhor in Somalie, people write angkor watt as ankhor watt.
An elephant in Germany was called ankhor, there is an independent
record label called ankhor etc etc etc.
Man I felt so cheated, but what can you do?

But if you use Xara in connection with the program range
or a program in the same field, I think the first user or the one
who deposited first, has the most rights, and they could enforce it too.
