Frank,
I appreciate your view, but would you be willing to test this scenario out on your setup and see if you get an error? I don't want to point the finger at Xara in case it is specific to my system.
How much memory does Xara require, recommend?

I would, but it's 02h30 here and I am just going to bed. I'll try tomorrow if nobody else has helped you by then.
If someone tried to make me dig my own grave I would say No.

had a 3444pix by 4272pix 600dpi tiff [M and D 14] to hand so gave it a test [blanked the thumbnail as I can't post the image]
this will export at the same size - but not if I double the size in xtreme pro 4, make a 600dpi bitmap copy, and try to export that at 600dpi [it just gets stuck and does nothing]
it does work in xtreme 2
changes to the way things work in xtreme 4 [and maybe 3]are responsible for this as far as I know - perhaps reflected in the way the bitmap gallery reports the original file [see attached]
this has come up before but I cannot find the threads at present..

PS I'd left the xxp4 hung export running and when I went back to close it there was the message:

Honestly thought I was going to be able to help, but I exported the image 4 times on different settings, each time at 600dpi and 2650 x 3219 pix and every time it exported in about a second without any problem.

reckon yours worked Frank because your image is smaller
the image that I exported [200% of the original] was 6888pix by 8554pix at 600dpi [no compression]

Just brought in a 3000 x 2250 px JPG and exported it as a monster TIF, 16000 x 12000 px, CMYK, LZW. It's 170Mb
