Thought I would draw a grid in XXP and use Page Curl to shape the grid. Thought making just half of the cylinder would be good. Made transparent space on either end, but Page Curl didn't use the transparent space. I added a row of pixels at the ends to get it to work.

In Xara, you can draw a line and circle, group the two and drag the circle towards the line.

You can warp vector as well. I warped the drawing and exported to PDF for XXP.
Shift > will increase the grid resolution.
