    Bob,

    You can manually add JPX files. I didn't see an option to save to that format.

    You can load a texture then cut an paste it into a new layer. I don't know if you can do a mixing operation. Blending worked.

    I have lots of PNG files Imade of various things, and I was able to use one to make a texture. It seems the program has one image per layer, and you just need to create additional layers.

    No idea what the IPS format does.

    Sea grass into a grayscale tile, and the tile used to texturized a couple of layers of the image.
