The usual warnings apply when editing the registry. Please make a backup before you start editing the registry.

A better way to stop certain uneccessary programs loading at startup is to use the MSCONFIG utility (Start>>Run>> type MSCONFIG)*

Also there are several trusted cleanup programs that can help out such as MSCONFIG Cleanup and CCLEANER

At the end of the day, although anything suggested at TG is done so in good faith (and has usually been tested by the person suggesting it), it remains that you do so at your own risk.
