new printer not aligning with xara xtreme pro 4

having trouble getting my new xerox phaser 8560 to line up margins correctly when printging text. It seems to chop off the text on the left margin even though I allow a half inch. For some reason it doesn't do that in my microsoft word. Anybody got any suggestions, insights, etc. Your input is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi

have you set window>show print borders ?

with the printer set as default this should indicate the maximum printable area
and any margins you make should be within this

not sure about word - but it may well take this into account 'automatically'

[note if you set new page color or other background page in xtreme this may hide the print border markers unfortunately]

To get over the hidden print border issue mentioned by Steve J, create a hollow rectangle the same size as your print border on a new and locked layer which remains at the top of all following layers. You can change the visibility colour to whatever you wish depending on the document colour.
This way you can keep your design within your printers maximum print range.
Just remember to hide (or remove) that layer before actually printing.
Also remember that the print border may differ for each printer.

Tip: You could create a new .xar template with this 'print border layer' always in place. (File>>Save Template)
