Oh... I haven't noticed that
Only old 0.3 version seems to be there http://downloads.xara.com/opensource....3r693.tar.bz2 but i have 0.7r1785 source code on my HDD so all is not lost I should be able to upload it in couple of days if youre interested (no server access right now)
ATM I dont need the source since I got my troubles with xaralx sorted out. But thanks anyway Suvek
The way I see it is, there are still users and ppl who want to contribute (like Helen) so it cant be dead. When there are no more users then fine its dead but this is not that time. Debian packagers rebuild Xara, so theres still some devs working on it.but the project is de facto dead
Sorry, but you're wrong. The only thing, the Debian maintainers has done, was to link the code against new libraries. That has nothing to do with development. They don't fix bugs and also don't add a new feature to XaraLX.
If you look at the SVN, you can check by yourself, when the last significant change was checked in by a developer.
It would not be fair, to recommend to Helen, that she should start the translation in such a situation - especially if you consider the hundreds of strings to be translated.

Either way, the translations will be useful for members of the Linux community, so don't give up
You could offer them up at various Linux sights and I am sure they will be glad to help promote it.
@geminiguy:
Beside the fact you've recognized by yourself, that there will be no more work on the Open Source project, the more important problem is, that there are not only ~6000 words to translate, but ~6000 sentences. To translate this costs a lot of time. Sometimes you have to think twice or more, how to translate such a string into your language, so that it sounds ok in the context of the software (in a Menu, a dialog box, a tooltip, the statusline, ...).
@Helen:
If you're willing to invest 2-3 hours a day in this work, you should be finished 30 days later. I know, that Xara uses companies for this work and have to pay for this. Why not try to ask Xara Ltd., if they need a russian translation and offer them your work for money. You are from russia and I don't know the working/living costs for russia, so (maybe) 3,000,- EUR could be appropriate for this work.

Remi
