Streaming Videos as Webcam

Hello

Is it possible to stream an AVI ("any" video) file just like a stream of a
webcam? My camera is dead and I'll participate on a video chat. I need
to send a video file just like a real webcam-captured image.

If this is not the right place to ask this question then please guide me where to post this?

To play MOV/3GP in windows media player I can install MOV alternative.

The same way, does any one know some kind of webcam alternative which I can install and do webcamming without having a webcam?

I will really appreciate if someone could help me out here.

I use Windows Media Encoder to send a live video stream to a server where it is re-broadcast.

It may not be what you are looking for, however it it free so you can try it and see if it does what you want.

If you are serious about wanting to streaming video (without using a webcam) you can try VideoLAN. It's free and works very well.

Webcams are very cheap now. I'm sure you could afford to buy a replacement?
