Xara 3D and Photoshop Extended

which program - and what sort of image file are you exporting to?

It shouldn't become unresponsive (Duh! that's obvious). Is it possible to post the .x3d file for us to export, or is it content sensitive?

tried to reinstall and exported the X3D default text on the start up and it just hangs..

from bmp to jpeg the only format that worked was .swf but i cant open it in photoshop..

sorry it's windows xp with service pack 2..
using the integrated graphic chip nvidia 6150se on athlon x2..
exporting to animation works fine but not images..

could be an nvidia issue - see this thread - its a bit long and technical in places, but the upshot was nvidia drivers

To update you, I still cannot export any 3D image no matter what I try. I've pretty much stopped trying since I'm getting no direction from Xara except for a brief email regarding nVidia graphics cards may be at fault. Since my mobo is nVidia (Lenovo desktop system), there is little or nothing I can do about this even if it was the problem. I've updated all the drivers I could and it still locks on export. But maybe this note about nVidia will help others

ok that sucks.. when was the last version of Xara 3D came out? no updates yet? really bad.. so ill give xtreme a shot nyway.. but xara 3d works well for it's price..

Karco is there a reason you do not answer anyones questions?

We are trying to help but you are being very vague.

Please be specific about why you need a 3D file format like .obj and how you intend to use a 3D text within Photoshop.

Knowing what you are trying to achieve will make it much easier for someone to provide a specific answer about how to use Xara3D6 or Xara Xtreme extruded text. Or suggest an alternative if the output from Xara3D or Xtreme is not suitable to the task.

being vague? what im trying to achieve is export the 3d text then add some background maybe with photoshop since im not gonna use it for animation?

i tried blender 3d for creating 3d text before but applying nice looking material aint as easy as this.. so how thankfull i am i found this piece of program yet extemely disapointed of it's problem.

if this is the problem - then it is an incompatibility between xara3D and certain nvidia chips - this is as much nvidia's 'fault' as it is xara's - in reality it is just 'one of those things' - unfortunate

you should be fine creating 3D text in xtreme and exporting it into photoshop
if you are using xtreme pro you can export as .psd
let us know if you have further problems
