    Hi All,

I'm setting up a 3 tier brochure for a client but would like to print the guidelines I have on the screen. I have tried the following without any luck.

Moved the Guides layer to foreground then hit the print button but they do not show.

    Thankshttp://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

    Hello Casey,

The guides layer does not print. If you want the information printed, you have to copy it to a new layer.

I fake the guidelines for my tutorials. Make your line red and apply a dashed style to the line from the Line Gallery > Dashed Lines folder.

    Hmm John,

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>The guides layer does not print. If you want the information printed, you have to copy it to a new layer. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Is thats an answer or just your way of playing with my mind? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

I think I'll give Garry a big tick for his easy work-around and a question mark for John for posting a what came first the chicken or the egg answer.

    Thanks for your quick responses.

    Sorry Casey,

About the cryptic response. The guides layer does not print. So whatever you are using as a guide, Lines, shapes etc. Must be redrawn on another layer to get it to print.

This is accomplished easy enough by turning on snap to guides (num pad 2) drawing a line over the guide, but on another layer. Then changing the color to your guide color and making it a dashed line as Gary so nicely pointed out.

Any drawn objects on the guides layer can just be copied and pasted(cntrl-c/Cntrl-v) You can not use Cntrl-k (Copy in same place) because you can not move any items off the guides layer.

    Is this a little less cryptic? http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif

    Thanks John,

That makes more sense to me now. Thanks for explaining in detail! http://www.talkgraphics.com/images/smilies/wink.gif
