Default Help! HiRes PDF export inverts bitmap graphics

    Hi,

I'm having a major problem with the 20-page brochure I'm now trying to get ready for the printer.
When I do the export to PDF/X (300DPI, no compression) then bitmap graphics get inverted in color. (See attached screen capture from Acrobat 8)

Has anyone come across this problem, and more importantly, does anyone know ho to solve this?

I'm currently working with XXP 3.24

Stephan, I don't use a lot of pdf but I d/l your xar file and exported it to PDFX. My machine chocked and ran out of memory, so I deleted all but page one and exported that. See the screengrab below for the results. I can't say what's causing your strange effects but try exporting one page at a time.

    Egg,

    Thanks for the quick response.

The problem seems to be related to memory indeed.
If I do an export in 150DPI, then less graphics are affected.
If I do an export in 96DPI, then the export is alright.

I'll give it another try on Wndows XP and Windows Vista PC's (the one I'm currently working on is W2000). And at home I've also got XXP4, maybe this'll make a difference.

Alternative route would be to export the pages one by and to join them again with PDFSAM or PDFTools. (Rather tedious)

    Cheers,
    Stephan

Got it to read and export to PDF no problems. I use custom if there is any transparencies in the doc. PDF/X-1a so it can be read properly. Think it might be something to do with your graphics card that causes the inversion. Will try and upload PDF for you but think their might be a file size limit? yes, sorry no can do but try the way I suggest

    Albacore,

Thanks for the offer, but just hold off for the moment.
    1. I'm in contact with Xara Support about this issue
    2. One of my many attempts at home (WinXP + XXP4 + various PDF/X export settings) worked. I've got a magnificent 83.5MB PDF :-)

The one that I have is 70.4 Mb. Just think what size it would be in AI. Have a look at your PM's

    Stephan,
I am using XX4 and dl'd your file OK. It loaded OK. However, my attempts at PDF'ing from within XX were unsuccessful. My machine chugged away for a while and gave up spluittering. However, when I have this sort of trouble I go back to my trusty print screen PDF generator and it usually gets the job done.

I think it has worked again in this instance. I've attached some screen captures of the PDF. The PDF size is gratifying at 7.4MB. Everything seems to be there and the resolution looks OK.

Let me know your email address and Ill send it over.
    cheers, Erik

Just a question, why did you not use Indesign?
This is the first time i have seen a project at this scope using xara.

Does the text overflow to other pages incase you want to edit the text?

    behzad,

you say " Just a question, why did you not use Indesign?

Your suggestion is great if you have and use Indesign. I can't speak for Stephan but in my case it is unnecessary. I do not have Indesign and it would cost me US$700 to buy it. The PDF print driver I am using is free.

As for the scope of the project, there have been numerous examples in this forum of very large and complex projects done in Xara.

    cheers, Erik

Oh sorry, please do not take any offense
I also noticed some pictures are of lower dpi

I recommend 300 dpi for print, just my 2cents
