Steve I meant to say that the new feature to rotate simply by moving the cursor near one of the corner sizing handles only rotates about the objects center.

To move the rotation axis (center of rotation) to a specific point you must double click and endure the new delay before you can move the axis.

Thanks Bill. But how does this differ from earlier versions?
The default axis position is 'centre' on all new objects.

I found that clicking the rotate button on the info bar when the selection tool is selected instantly changes the handles to the rotation/skew arrows - no delay.

Steve, I was only trying to confirm the delay and why using the new ability to rotate without double clicking to switch to the rotation handles is not always a viable option.

The only difference is the delay that did not exist in previous versions.

Gotcha - sorry, my fault for reading something else into your words.

BTW: The keyboard shortcut for toggling the rotate handles is Shift+Ctrl+4 - which of course you can change to anything you like via the Customise Shortcuts in the Utilities menu.
The keyboard shortcut also activates the handles instantly. So it looks like a bug.

This has to go away, please.

I love Xara and i already bought v4 without even looking at it but i think it's unacceptable that it becomes slower / less responsive because at least for me the best thing about Xara is its speed.

I could live with using an older version although i really appreciate the boolean operations bugfix.

i can confirm that a double click on a group lags in x4 and is fast in x3.

if you rotate and copy the group 5 times every 30 degrees its fast in x3.02 and slow and laggy in x4

just test yourself with the attached xar.

I see this too - it's a good second of delay some times, and that can be when selecting a single (not grouped) object.

now that i ran over the text lag somehow the rotation arrow lag disappeared.

Works fine now, also in new files there seems to be no problem whatsoever!?

    I don't get it.
