Circular List Buttons

Hi All,
I have been trying to draw circular list buttons to post on a web site list. This list will then be placed on a semitransparent white box, which overlays a scene beneath. The problem I am having is that although I have drawn a circular button for the lists, I end up with the button contained within a square, which just looks odd when placed on the semitransparent box.
I hope this haven't been too difficult to understand.... but I'll place an image to display the issue.... Anyone got any advice?

Export your circular button as a .gif or .png image with transparency.

Sorry to appear exceeding dumb.... but how can I export as a png with transparency? What I mean is how do I set the background colour of white as transparent in Xara2.0?
