New User with a question: Making a vector from a bitmap

I've been searching the posts and decided to join. I am trying to find instructions on how to make a bmp into a 3d image using Xara Xtreme Pro so then I can have it spin in Xara3d. Can someone point me in the right direction. I cannot afford to get anything else at this point and need to do it ins XX PRo

can anyone help? If needed I can attach my bmp or gif of the logo i want to make spin. let me know.
I'm starting to get at my wits end.

Sorry, your link did not work. Can you verify and post again? I did some searching of the videos and instructions and haven't been able to pinpoint what i need to do exactly. But I'll keep looking. Probably missed it some place.

thanks for the links. But I think my logo is too complicated to be done in the way the video shows.

can be done reasonably well - but you might well find it tricky in xara

you can use inkscape [free www.inkscape.org] or a web based tracer such as is discussed here

the trick is getting the vector back into xara

do u think if i cleaned up all the shadowing that is has already it will make it way easier to make 3d? my thought is that since the logo has a 3d thing to it now it may look odd make the 3d part of it 3d again. do u get my meaning? I have a copy of the logo with just the txt and none of the extra 3d parts or shadowing on it. All that was made custom a very long time ago on an app that doesn't exist today.

Sorry for my explanations, I'm a network guy and know nothing about graphics, I just try to rely on my skills for some reasoning to help me figure stuff out, but all you graphic people are in a class by yourselves. You all make such awsome stuff. All I can do is get ur computer on a network and speak to everyone else. hehehe.

I have another question cause now I feel useless. hahaa
I dropped the new version of the logo on this page but i'm getting something that is not a shadow behind it. Is it possible to make this a complete transparancy so that only the background shows?

u'll notice where the logo is and i knowi need to adjust the colors and lighting on it. but do u notice the black behind it? i have that as my background now, ony cause i thought it would blend with the page, but u can see it as it goes over the background wallpaper.

is there a way to correct this?
