Default Can anyone help with the mold tool please?

Hi! This is my first post....

Inspired by Gary Priester's Tourneau watch tutorial (Nov 2004 - great work Gary!) I thought I'd have a go at my new Citizen Eco-Drive watch I got for Xmas. Here's the work in progress
    http://www.martinsguitars.co.uk/Images/EcoDrive.jpg
Here's the problem - the dial is surrounded by a circular bezel angled at about 75 degrees with text printed on the inside face. I need to apply a perspective mold to the text (which I have been aligning to a circle) so that it looks like it's viewed from above. None of the packaged molds give me the perspective I need and I've been unable to create a circular mold with perspective.

Any thoughts as to how to do this?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello Munchkin,

    Welcome to Talkgraphics.

After a google search for an image of the watch I see why it is difficult to achieve the correct perspective. http://www.princetonwatches.com/shop/JY0000-53E.asp

I'm not sure how to make that perspective. Perhaps another member may have a techinque they can share.

I'll make some trials during my free time this weekend.

Excellent drawing of the face elements you have so far.

If you have not seen Tony Robert's guest tutorial on the XaraXone about the Mould Tool http://www.xaraxone.com/guest/guest12/index.htm

Hi Bill and thanks for the prompt response

I wish I'd thought of a link to a picture of the actual watch! Well done!

Yes, I've worked my way through Tony Robert's guest tutorial which was great but I've been unable to make a circular (or rounded) perspective mold.

I've tried applying a floor perspective mold to the text and then applying the molded text to a curve with no success.

Thanks for your kind comments on the drawing.

    Regards
    Martin

    Hi Martin,

I've made a few trials with no success so far but I'm limited on time today as I have to head out for work within the hour.

I'll have time tomorrow and the following day.

    Regards

Why not finish t all the text on the orthographic plane that you are using at the minute then either use the grouped drawing with mould tool or create a bitmap copy and mould that. The trouble comes when you have to put the glasss and the body on with all that detail each with their different levels and depth. I would keep the drawing that you have got at the moment layout your watch and strap in the perspective that you want and start to build up from there using layers for each level of depth. Have a look how the two watches were done in the ClipArt Gallery in the examples folder I am not saying go to that amount of detail. Then group the face and hands and apply your mould, difficult job you have tackled there.
    Design is thinking made visual.

I think that Martin is wanting to know how to make the text conform to the attached section of the watch.
