    Talking CD Case template

I'm having a weird problem with the cd case templates in from the CD supplied with Xaraxtreme pro. WHen I print them out they are not the correct size. Specifically jewel_case_insert_abstract

They do not match the CD cases that I have or the music cd's I have from music stores. Not sure why this is, but when I print them out there is a big difference. Perhaps it is something I'm doing or whatever.

In any case, I am looking for cd template including the lable for the disk and the cd case itself, with the front and back paper insert. (Just like in jewel_case_insert_abstract but a template that someone here has actually used and prints out correctly.)

So if anyone can post or email me or can give me a link to an xar template just like jewel_case_insert_abstract2 but "correct" sizes please reply (asap?)

    Thanks!

I never use other peoples templates. I set my page units to mm, get a steel rule and measure the case.
Draw the correct size in Xara and fit my graphics to it then print.

Same with the printable CD/DVD media, I draw the 120mm circle with the 33mm - 39mm inner circle (depends on brand how far the printable surface goes) then fit the graphics to the circle, clip the shape and save to .bmp ready to drop into the Canon CD Print app.
    Always 100% correct.

Come to think of it, I never use other peoples cooking recipes either

You have a point there. I'm gonna get me one of those steel rulers with mm measurements.

So setting measurements to mm gives you the most precise measurements in Xara?

All manufacturers cases are slightly different, soa Standard template will only get you in the ballpark. If you need it truely accurate measure your cases and build your own. It only takes a few minutes...

I have a template or two at work that I have used with success... I will try and remember to post em tommorrow.

I didn't realize there were different sizes. So I will make sure the cases are purchased before the art is finalized.

And yes if you could upload your own templates, well that couldn't hurt!

    Thanks

Rather pointless if they were not

I think I read somewhere that xara's internal unit of measure was a nanopixel or something like that. Everthing else is a conversion. Setting your units of measure in windows (control panel=>regional and language options=>regional options=>customize=>no. of digits after decimal) will increase the accuracy of the displayed info. I have mine set for 4 digits after the zero (A printer can't get much more accurate than a 1000th of an inch...)

(A printer can't get much more accurate than a 1000th of an inch...)
...and thankfully no-one owns printer with sloppy feed rollers or uses paper that is hygroscopic and actually changes size by a few nano-smidgens' when wet with ink or heated by the laser printer fuser (and shrinks a little ..)
With accuracy like that, why waste ink/toner on bleed margins - woohoo!

Those days are happily long gone...

    (sorry - couldn't resist..)

That's a good tip. FYI I found those same settings in Vista for those of you who might have Vista and wonder if they are in the same location in the control panel.
