Me again How would I go about tracing this http://img117.imageshack.us/img117/2883/badge1ul5.jpg to work in 3d6? Is there no way of saving the above picture as a file that will work in 3d6, it just seems impossible to trace over free hand without it looking, well, a mess
Blootoof, Xara3D6 does not use raster images except as textures. If you try to import that image into Xara3D6 it will report it cannot find any paths.
If all you need is a circle with the image on it then in Xara3D6 open the Text Options and remove the example text. Type the period character (full stop). Adjust the extrusion depth and the bevel type. Then in the Texture Options tick the Texture checkbox. Find your file in the browse dialog window then click the OK button. You image will be shown on the circle. If needed you can adjust it's size and location on the circle using the control in the Texture Options.

You lot are friggin geniuses To be honest I held back posting the picture because I'm sure you're always getting mithered to do others. I was just after an idea how you did it, and you didn't fail on that one. Thanks again.
blootoof
just so you know I did not trace that by hand!
I used the bitmap tracer tool in inkscape but xara has one too though many prefer to do it by hand.
This sort of thing is very easy with xara once youve learnt how
there are real 3D experts out there and if youve searched the forum youll have seen them at work
for example:

heres what I did:
screen captured the logo as png
imported it into inscape and used bitmap tracer to trace it to vector
could have used xara, but inkscape gives crisper line for this and you avoid having to remove background join shapes etc.
save as pdf from inkscape and imported this into xara and saved as xar
the xar file is then imported into xara 3D
EDIT - it would appear you can copy and paste the pdf import vector from xara pro to xara3D direct but I prefer to save the file and then import it from within xara3D
