Can you tell me a bit about your computer, what kind of RAM, how much is devoted to CorelDRAW and if you have set up a scratch disk in Photoshop?

My sympathies for your dilema. Can you use PhotoPaint for doing what you are trying to do in Photoshop. PhotoPaint does not cause problems with CorelDRAW and is nearly as powerful as Photoshop. It can also output to .psd files and all the same types of exports plus makes great .pdf's out of PhotoPaint which cannot be output from Photoshop.

I only use Photoshop now rarely as I have come to prefer to stay all with Corel and figure out how that works. It has speeded up my work as for everything I do there are keyboard shortcuts that make it all the faster and linking and saving back to DRAW are assured and it all keeps working. Never have had anything happen to me which you describe.

    Hi Cellyn

Can I just check - your memory is 992 MB ?
How did you get this figure?
    I would expect 996 MB [say 512 MB + 256 MB + 128 MB] but not 992 MB
But it depends where you got the figure from as to if it could be a problem
If it is a hardware problem this is not the place to fix it
    You would need a technician

    Cellyn

Situations like this are very difficult I'm afraid

    As I understand it:

    Programs are crashing
    The system is jamming
Reformatting cures the problem but then it comes back
As well your system reports memory that is unusual
996 MB or 1 GB is usual - 992 MB is not
Understand: non of this is proof but it is suspicious and certainly memory failure could very well cause these problems - but so could other things

Like Sally I have great sympathy for this very awkward situation
If it is hardware it need specialist attention - it cannot be fixed at a distance

There again no can say for sure that is what it is until a technician looks at it
    It may be something else

My advice would be to have the computer checked out if you can
If no problems are found that is good and we have eliminated one possibility
But if there are the sooner it is checked, the better

    I hope this helps

What versions of each program are your running? Also, if they are both registered you can get help from Adobe and Corel. If not... well those two companies don't like each other anyway.

There are other means of exporting files from Photoshop which DRAW can use, such a .tiff and .png. Try those.

In the meawhile, learn PhotoPaint, you will be glad you did.
