Thanks John, Samantha, Doug, Allison, Andy and Tom. I'm glad everyone like the wheel.

Samantha the attachment is a mini-tutorial of how I make the masks.

Thanks for the wonderful color wheel. I will find this very useful.

I have been using a program called Color Wheel Pro for a little more than a year. It was worth the money I paid for it. But your color wheel is useful especially for working in Xara. I am sure I will give it a good workout.

One of the nice things about the Color Wheel Pro site is the many links it has to articles on color. I get the feeling that the folks behind it are really great people.
    Regards,

Thanks Alan. Color Wheel Pro is a very good application and the colour information they provide is very good.

I like myPantone's site as well for colour information and the Before and After Magazine. The colour wheel they provide in BAMagazine is based on the primary pigments, which works very well for computer artists as well as those working with natural media.

This was an excercise for my mind. Waiting for TPTB (the powers that be) for my company to decide when and which projects to begin for the new year can be quite boring

It also strengthened my knowledge of the HSV (Hue Saturation Value) colour model. Reading the information doesn't always give one a real sense of how things work. Digging in and having to use the HSV model to create the wheel with the tints and shades gives you a much better understanding.

It also puts things into the format that many Xara X (et al) users can dig in and tear apart so they can get a feel of how things work.

Bill, thank you so much for this great color wheel. Obviously you put a lot of work into it, and it was worth it. I am learning a great deal about colors just playing with the wheel. I have it saved but was wondering if there is a way to have it pop up whenever I would like in XXP, not as a template nor as another file, but maybe as a little popup like the color editor?
Bill, you have more work to do to get this to work. Tell your bosses at work that you are busy and can't be bothered right now but that you'll get back to them when you have the time.

    Hi Bob,

Thanks. You may not know it, but the Color Editor in Xara X, X¹, Xtreme, and Xtreme Pro has some very good features that are a Colour Wheel (or rather a cube ).

Bob, you are welcome (again ).

About the only way I know is to put the file in your Clip Art Gallery folder. You can bring it up that way.

Maybe Charles or Antony can think of another method, if the Gallery doesn't do what you need.

Are we still having fun with colours? I hope a bit more information about using the Color Editor isn't too much.

With the 3D colour cube it is easy to see palattes around a selected colour. In the attached image you can see that by clicking the round arrow 'thingy' (not sure what it's official name is ) an assortment of 'cool', 'warmer', 'hot' colours are available to choose from.

If you want tints and shades of the selected colour change to the HSV color model in the Editor.
