I've finally finished the '57 BelAir I've been wanting to do for some time. I'm a little more comfortable creating my own colors now, so that I can change the color of an automobile in seconds now. Also, I realized that with cars that have body styles that lend themselves to it, I can change a car from a hardtop to a convertible just by changing layers. The two pictures below are the same Xara file.

I thought I'd try something new with this chevy and this is what I came up with. I dropped it, chopped it, put custom wheels on it, put dice in the windshield, tinted the windows and removed the door handles. I then added a purple metallic paint job, custom head lamps and some skirts. It's now a lowrider...

Great image Ron. The colour editor is greatly underestimated in XaraX, and as you say, you can alter an image in seconds.
As well as using the layers for the hard top / soft top option, you could also add different occupants ie drivers/passengers on different layers. The options are endless.

    Hi Ron,

Thanks for the attempt. The color your looking for is kinda a shiney pewter with a tiny bit of rose mixed in with the yellow. I know you've seen it out on the highways and byways before, it's a pretty common car color these days.

    Love your work!

Well, I prefer the classic 1950s colours; turquoise, coral pink, sky blue. A lot of those car colours ended up on Fender guitars too. Even the famous Fiesta Red was originally a car paint.

My wife has always told me I'm lowsy with colors. Is this close?
