I'm sure other people will ask for this. In the meantime, you can use guides and then delete them.

Not sure how you can use guides as they would not print, I'm a talking about printable lines connecting one line of text to a defined tab stop as per the attached fragment.
Vital for lists of many types, menus in particular. This was done in Xara but of course was fiddly, should be easier now but for the lack of leaders.
