Default Newbie-Looking for tips on changing colors of an object (like the paintjob on a car)

Basically, I'm looking for ways to take a picture of a vehicle and play around with the paint jobs before I commit to spraying the first drop of lacquer.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    See attached .xar file.
This is not supposed to be realistic in anyway, but it is quick (less than ten mins) and gives a general idea.

Make the background layer visible, then make each of the other layers visible in turn ..

"Intbel" ... "Can't" is not an option.

Compliance is futile. Resistance is futile. Just do your own thing an' ignore 'em.

Read Editing Named Colors. You can create an illustration using Named colors and then modify the color and change all instances of that color.

I get the impression he wants to take a photo of his car, drop it into Xara and just play with the paint job colours. I envisage a stroll along...

It can be done with a bit of tracing & transparent tool set to stained glass.
The more complex the car the more complex the task. I would like to send the .xar file for you to play with placing the different colours over the car but at the moment it is 385k. once I work out how Egg achieves this I will do it if required.

Let me help you with this: "Thank you, Egg, for the effort you put into that XAR file on my behalf".

Big Frank, it was quite late when I posted my response to Soquili's post and his idea. Egg Bramhill's submission was posted sometime during the period in which I was writing my response to his post. I was playing in Xara, looking at Soquili's work and trying out some new ideas, and never scrolled back up through the thread when I posted my attempts. I am just now seeing Egg's work and must admit it is very well done.

Thank you all for your responses to my inquiry, I hope someday to be as proficient with Xara as all of you.
