Default Converting shadows to editable shapes

I create a button and ad a shadow. I want to convert the peice that is shadowed to an editable shape so that I can upgroup and break the shadow into a seperate piece. When I tell xtreme to convert to editable shapes this happens.

    Anyone have this same problem?

How do I make it so that the shadow retains its original size?

Hi Christian,I can not duplicate that problem. When I convert to editable shape the shadow remains the same size as it was before the convert.

After converting to editable shapes the shadow is still grouped to the item which cast it, ungrouping allows you to edit the shadow separately.

However it is curious, you can after converting to editable shapes before you ungroup (or even afterwards if both the solid and shadow object are selected) you can make a shadow of the shadow with it's own cast shadow or pent umbra.

A pent umbra occurs naturally all the time around us. Because we often have more than one lighting source, shadows can be cast from opposing directions, or are skewed and appear to repeat themselves as of at slight angles. Using the shadow properties of duplicating shadows lighter and lighter, a shadow array can be created much like we have observed and perhaps have not used as of yet.

We often ignore this subtle shadow, but if your goal is greater realism, a shadow such as this can help.
