    I have Bryce 5 and I was wondering if it is the best program for creating landscapes and scenic vistas. Is there something else out there that’s better or easier?

    Thanks

    I don't know if it is better or easier (because I haven't tried Bryce) but you should at least try the demo for Vue d'Esprit. I've found it to be a fairly intuitive and fun to use program. Also you can continue to produce images with the demo after it times out. With the demo you can render & save those but you can't save the project. Another nice feature in their demo is you can import.

    Find Vue d'Esprit here.

    I haven't tried the latest version of Bryce, but Vue d'Esprit is a lot easier and more intuitive than the previous versions of Bryce, and it is also very fast renderer. Give it a try!

    Renderman (PR), BMRT or 3Delight. However, these renderers require that you can output RIB files. Or POVRay, which requires that you can export *.POV files. They are fast, stable, and last but not least several large movies have been rendered with those apps (bugs life etc).

    Oh, and they are free of charge ;-}

    I've used Bryce 5... i'd suggest giving Vue d'Esprit a go. It beats the crap outa Bryce as far as i'm concerned.

    And don't forget Terragen if you're into landscapes. (it's free and it's incredible.

    Apart from that, there a few Flaming Pear plugings you may want to consider. I can't recall their exact names, but one is for adding the moon, one is for water, and one for the sun. You can use these in PS, PSP and Corel Photopaint. (perhaps also in other pixel manipulators)

    You're thinking of "Solar Cell" & "Flood" Erik.

    I didn't mention Terragen because it currently falls a bit short for 'full-on' landscape creation -- due to it's lack of an ability to create objects for the scenes; trees, rocks, buildings, etc.
