Pathtetic 3D neophyte though I am, I thought I'd get started (again!) with learning C4D 7/8. I have found e-ovia's Ozone 2 plugin for making skyscapes, which seems very good (though I hate the light blue semi-Aqua UI). But I'd also like to find plugins for Bryce-like water and landscapes. Does anyone here have some good tips?

Randy - you're an C4D ace, I know, any good ideas?

    Thanks!

Not sure I would qualify as an Ace (just haven't shot down that many great renders).

You are not alone having trouble creating good looking landscape textures in C4D. Here are a couple of tutorials that may help. As far as modeling landscapes, The few I have done I have done 3 different ways.

    1) easiest - just use a few Landscape primitives.
    2) Add a fairly dense plane object and use the magnet tool to sculpt.
    3) Use Terragen or similar app to great a greyscale image to use as a hieghtfield.

Also check out Vue Pro. It now lets you export Vue landscapes directly into C4D. I haven't had a chance to check it out myself. I was hoping to write a review on it, but the site I write for is looking for a review editor, so I am in limbo until they find one.

Randy, thanks - I will follow up on your leads!

I just read your huge review of C4D 8.1 today, and saved it on my disk for reference. Great job, Randy, I'll learn a lot from that - my Kompliments!
