Xara Cube is the best screensaver I have ever seen. I have mine set up with family photos (including the dog). I would like to put a simple animation on one of the faces. I have it set up as an animated gif, produced, of course, in Xara X. But Xara Cube will only take bitmaps or AVI's. How do I export an animated gif as an AVI? Or am I just displaying my ignorance of computer graphics?

If you use MS Windows you can convert animated gifs to avi using Gif Construction Set Professional (it does much more than this). It costs $20.00 and you can download a demo from:

I haven't tried it but the company has a great pedigree (Alchemy Mindworks).

Tom - I downloaded Gif Construction Set Professional and it did the job very well indeed. I intend to explore the other things it can do - I might even buy it!
My thanks to the Fontman as well

Don't forget about JASC's Animation Shop which comes with Paintshop Pro. Version 7 comes with version 3 of Animation Shop. It is capable of handling the AVI format as well as GIF, ANI and Autodesk's .FLI & FLC.

Both great programs are very powerful and yet very inexpensive!
