Makes getting up at the crack of dawn more than worth while.

I always seem to wake up around 5:15 5:30 in the summer and it's a good time to put up the coffee and read my e-mail and check the conferences.

I can often see the firery sunrise but getting a good photo is not easy. By the time I do ten things while walking from the kitchen to the office to retrieve my camera, and then stopping along the way to do ten more little things on the way back, the sunrise has softened and the vibrant colors faded.

This morning I went direct to the camera and directly back to the sunrise.

Thanks for sharing Gary. It's been awhile since I've seen a sunrise, getting to bed at 2AM and getting up at 6AM doesn't allow me to enjoy such beautiful things.

I see a beton jungle... but still quite an impressive view it is ;-). I wish I had a digital camera to catch something of that beatuty happening around us. (actually I'm planning to buy some as soon as possible)

IMHO, American Beauty is one of the better american movies. Finally something comparable to French film production

That is a great sunrise photo Gary. At first I thought it was a sunset. We have similar views here in Arizona but not in the city where I live. I would have to get out in the desert more. There are too many buildings and lights here in Mesa to see a sunrise or sunset like you have here.

A great sunrise and a super photo. You must have space to get a view like that. Seldom can one really see a sunrise or sunset in town or city. When we are at the shore, we can see them.

Yep we got a fair amount of space and we live on a hill top so we can see a great distance in any direction.

New Mexico, and the southwest for that matter, has lots of space. The entire population of New Mexico is under 2 million people. And the area we live in, 20 miles north of Albuquerque, is about 5700 feet above sea level which provides a very clear atmosphere and vibrant colored sunsets and sunrises.

And to think I spent most of my life in Los Angeles :-o

Thanks all for your comments. We had a swell 4th in our new home state, and enjoyed another, dare I say it? spectacular sunset. :-)
