Hi josh.
The link in your post, has a complete set of instructions.
But, not if you're new to Xara.
The best thing to do is to go to Xara Xone.
There are many tutorials there from Gary the master.
I dare say that you will find what you're looking for, though it might need a bit of searching!
In the meantime, I will have a look and hopefully provide you with the exact link to a tutorial.
Trust me, when you get the hang of the easy-to-learn tools in Xara, you will be able to produce this in no time at all.
EDIT: Here's one Tutorial that will give you an idea of how you can do this.
EDIT AGAIN: Here's another great LINK. This should get you going!
Hey,thankyou for your reply Rik.That was very quick.I have read the link you sent me,and will read it again later. But WOW,as a newbie, those instuctions look very complicated to me.But i will have a really good try to follow them. The main problem i am having right now is finding and understanding the tools within Xara Desinger Pro 7.Yet,when i saw Gary W.Prieater's "Golden Text Technique 2" results,i felt inspired.I will get there!
Hi josh.
I've tried to expand Gary's instructions here.
Instructions are in the attached .xar file
You will need the Valken Font installed to be able to view things properly in my .xar file.
Here is another method using feathering to blend 3 text layers. and then I subtracted 2 more to create highlights

Rik and Frances that is some fine information from both of you.
It just goes to shaw that there is "More than one way to skin a cat." =D>=D>
A very warm thankyou to you all for the help given to me.Rik,i have looked at both the tutorial and link that you sent me.But,i did say i was a newbie! One of the steps in the tut' tells me i should "create a sine curve".I'm affriad i don't currently know what that means.
Josh, what Rik means is simple undulating curve such as this.

rather than a straight line
When I make golden text, I usually use the linear fade/repeating with gold and yellow colors as a fill, then I usually bevel the text afterward. It works well enough.
When I draw gold I think of reflections, light sources, textures
