Affinity products can optionally save the file history in the file. It can severely bloat the file. I leave it off. But there are people who utilize that feature.

Mike, agreed but File > Document size already advises the Undo steps and Undo size so this one little improvement is available bar some UI changes.

    Thanks Acorn & Mike.

I just tried the Affinity "Save History with Document"... woah-wow. Exactly as I suggested. These days, where terabytes are the norm, what are a few extra meg? Disk space is cheap. Affinity are making long strides and are quite attentive to their forums. (Not a hint, but a cautionary glance at you Matt Bolton - the fat lady might not be singing, but she sure is warming up in the dressing room)

Didn't Artworks have this feature Acorn? I seem to remember it did as you could open someone elses file & undoing it to see how it was made.

    Heady days Egg.
Artworks User Manual, page 42: "You can also choose not to save the Undo buffer with the document."
    Lost in translation,

XDP12 (and all the other Xara s/w I assume) does an odd thing, at least I think it's odd... you can close the program without saving your work, but when you re-open the program it still has your work sitting there as you left it. If you try to close that unsaved window it asks if you want to save it. The odd part is that all your undo-ability is gone which seems kind of pointless to me. If they're doing you the favour of keeping your unsaved work in limbo, logically they should keep all the undo info too. The Serif s/w looks nice. I notice they say no subscriptions - I guess they're having a dig at Xara/Magix. I like the modern look of Serif's adjustment sliders too. When you use several programs it helps when the GUI's are similar... Xara is looking old-fashioned.

I am imagining this, without proof, but someone probably thought it would be better to be quicker opening Xara than preserving the Undo/Redo information.

There isn't a solution unfortunately, Saving & Closing a xar or web file looses all undo information.
